TITANIUM's Unique Patented Multi-Model DPA Technology
Two patents for TITANIUM's
preeminent, multi-model Dynamic Pointer Array (DPA) technology have
been issued (U.S. Patent Nos. 5,611,076 & 5,713,014).
TITANIUM's patented
technology simplifies queries and updates on databases with complex
data models. By eliminating the cumbersome joins and redundant
intersect tables associated with typical databases, TITANIUM delivers
split-second response times with even the largest of databases.
The patents, entitled
"MULTI-MODEL DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR DATABASES HAVING COMPLEX
DATA MODELS", encompass TITANIUM's layering of multiple logical
database models, such as the relational/SQL model, the object-oriented
model, and the network/navigational model, on the same database.
Each of the models uses TITANIUM's unique DPA-based physical architecture.
The DPA is a special
index structure which directly supports, in the physical database,
each of the complex relationship types available in the database,
such as many-to-many, one-to-many, recursive, and forked (also called
N-ary or K-ary relationships).
By directly supporting
each complex relationship type, the TITANIUM DPA-based database
provides read/write views of the database using any and all of the
logical database models. Furthermore, since each relationship
is implemented in the most efficient manner for that relationship,
redundant data is eliminated. Each traversal of a relationship
between records requires less physical disk I/O, resulting in greater
speed for each operation that involves multiple related records,
such as complex queries and calculations.
